The screenshots show that Nokia is moving towards a MeeGo-like appearance on Symbian, something that has been mentioned in the Symbian UI guidelines from several months ago.
A lone noisy shot from the nose-bleeder seats during a Mexican Nokia Developers Day revealed the two upcoming versions of Symbian after Belle, which is said to grace current Anna handsets in early 2012.
The first one is apparently called Carla, grazing on the alphabetical order, and will bring a new 8.0 browser version. Richer widgets, Dolby Surround sound support and enhanced NFC functionality are also in store with it.
These new updates were revealed at Nokia's Developer's Day conference held in Mexico. The info comes from a blurred image which reveals the names of the two new updates. The Carla will be the first to make way to the market (to Anna running smartphones as well) with a bunch of neat features bundled with it. The update will see the new and improved 8.0 version of the browser, better widgets, improved NFC support and Dolby Surround Sound. The update is believed to roll out starting from early 2012.
So Carla will be the last update for N8 and other Symbian^3 devices. Donna will be exclusive to Symbian dual core devices (probably the next symbian flagship)
Also the “Symbian Belle” column says Belle for X7, E6 and 500 in 2011 while for N8, C6-01 and C7 by Q1 2012. There are rumors of Belle for N8 by November end. Maybe the info above corresponds to country specific and carrier locked versions.
