Well, the season of Android 4.2 updates to Samsung’s huge lineup of devices seems to finally be here, as just a day after the update started rolling out to the Galaxy S II Plus in Germany, Samsung is now treating the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (3G variant) to the newer (but not the latest anymore) flavour of Jelly Bean. The rollout has begun in France, with the build number P3100XXDMG6.

Android 4.2.2 brings a number of small but useful changes, such as a dedicated notifications panel in the status bar, lockscreen widgets, multiple user accounts, better accessibility, Daydreams screensaver mode, and also new widgets and launcher from the Galaxy S4. Expect to see improvements in performance and battery life as well.

It’s quite odd to see mid-range devices getting preference for the Android 4.2 update, though that does show Samsung isn’t giving as much special preference to their high-end device owners, and it confirms again and again that devices like the Galaxy S III and Note II will directly get updated to Android 4.3.

The update can be grabbed from Kies or via an over-the-air update on the device itself (Settings » About tablet » Software update), and you can also download the firmware from our firmware page to manually update (manual update can be done on any unlocked Tab 2 7.0 from any country, but outside France you may have to wipe data to make it boot up).

Download Android 4.3 Version for Google Nexus 4 Leaked

For the past few hours, I've been observing a curious case of Jeff Williams on Google+. Jeff posted a screenshot of what he claimed was a Nexus 4 he bought from a Googler... with a build of Android 4.3 on it. The same build, JWR66N, that we saw leaked earlier on a Galaxy S4 GPE by SamMobile. In disbelief, some have called him a hoaxer, but a number of resourceful folks decided to get Jeff on IRC (channel #Android43 on freenode) and worked with him for hours, trying over and over to get the magical system dump that would prove Jeff's story to be real.

The system dump, which we have since confirmed as legitimate and along with dozens of other IRC members mirrored to multiple destinations, indeed belongs to a Nexus 4 (mako), and the build number is indeed JWR66N. The radio and bootloader are missing right now - Jeff promised them tomorrow - so I have my doubts about a working port to other Nexus 4s for the time being.

In the meantime, the system dump itself is ready to go, and Ron and I are ripping through it as we speak. We'll have a teardown ready for you soon if we do dig something up, and by the looks of things, there's enough for a post.

I'd like to thank Jeff for his persistence as well as IRC users efrant, gravufo, Jason__, vividboarder, Introspection, and everyone else who drove this one to the finish line.

- There's chatter on IRC that restoring the backup via TWRP recovery seems to work. I flashed my Nexus 4 using a flashable zip and have a quick guide on how to do this coming up shortly. It boots, and it works.

How to Install Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update on Samsung Galaxy Grand

Now you can test official  ROM based on Android 4.2.2 for the Galaxy Grand DUOS. Galaxy S4 was the first Samsung device to run Android 4.2.2 out of the box but Samsung’s been busy updating older devices to Android 4.2.2. We don’t know the exact date or the devices that will get Android 4.2.2 but we expect it to be from this quarter for Galaxy S III, Galaxy Grand DUOS, Note II and a couple of tablets.

Required Things :

-Download Firmware Zip File

- Make sure that you have got back-up before you processed ahead.

- Also start with good battery level : 80%

Tutorial : How to Install Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update on Samsung Galaxy Grand

step 1: Extract the downloaded file

step 2: Goto extracted folder and Open Odin 3.07

step 3: Restart Galaxy Grand into Download Mode (Press and hold Home + Power + Volume down buttons)

step 4: Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin

step 5: Add CODE_I9082XXUBMF2_871997_REV05_user_mid_noship.tar.md5 to CODE

step 6: Add CSC_OXA_I9082OXABMF2_871997_REV05_user_mid_noship.tar.md5 to CSC

step 7: Add MODEM_I9082XXUBMF2_REV05.tar.md5 to MODEM

step 8: Make sure re-partition is Marked

step 9: Now, Start flash and wait for while

Note: If you encounter any issues with the firmware (Any FC, Bootloop etc), Boot into recovery mode (Home+ Power + Volume Up), Choose to wipe/factory reset, then choose reboot and you should be good to go
